Generacion, an HIV/AIDs prevention program located in Lima, Peru, has rented a house as a sanctuary for children rescued from the streets. Children who live on the streets are vulnerable to predators of all types: traffickers set traps, the police consider them criminals, and people see them as less than human.
The children who live in the Surfing Tribe house learn to surf as a way to heal the physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds they have suffered. Through surfing they can express themselves, compete, gain respect, and connect with nature. Some of the kids from the surfing tribe are entering and winning surfing competitions!
